Creamy Green Tea Latte and Reflections on 2018

Creamy Green Tea Latte and Reflections on 2018

A smooth creamy latte can be the perfect way to wake up or wined down on a cool winter day. Especially here in the Midwest where the end of Christmas season is really just the beginning of winter. If you are like most people (including myself) after the holidays you are looking for some healthier indulgences. Well that’s exactly what today’s recipe for a creamy Green Tea Latte is, healthy and but delicious.

I love drinking green tea in the evening. I find that it’s great at settling my stomach if dinner didn’t sit quite right and the moderate level of caffeine doesn’t keep me from falling asleep.

While I share this frothy little bit of wonderfulness with you, I also want to take some time to reflect on 2018. So whip up a mug of sweet creamy green tea latte and settle in.

How to Make a Creamy Green Tea Latte:

Creamy Green Tea Latte

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tsp loose leaf green tea or two green tea bags

Instructions

Heat the water in a kettle until warm enough to steep the tea.

  1. Place green tea in diffuser and let steep for 4-5 minutes.

  2. Place tea and milk in either frother, or latte maker to heat and froth the milk.  If you do not have a frother you can vigorously whisk the mixture in a stovetop pan. You can also place the mix in a french press and press the plunger up and down until frothy.

  3. For additional sweetness you can add one tsp honey.

2018 has been a year of change, challenge, and development. This year I decided to launch a blog. It’s currently hobby, but it’s something I would love to one day see grow into more.

It was the year that my hardworking husband decided to change jobs (he’s a teacher and took a position in a new school districted). And the year we decided to sell our first home, that we worked so hard to renovate, and move to a new city.

It was a great year.

A challenging year.

A year of new beginnings and sad goodbyes. But I honestly don’t regret a moment of it. I am a Christian, and sincerely believe that we are all called to a purpose and plan. Sometimes we move forward with a clear purpose and vision, and sometimes we simply trust that childlike obedience to go where we feel called. I don’t have a clear vision for why we needed to move to Lansing. But I can say that I trust God to intricately weave together pieces of our lives in ways we can’t begin to imagine.

For example when we bought our first home two years ago, it needed so much love. We pour countless hours, effort, and a decent amount of money into making that house into what we felt would be the perfect home. And yet when Sam (my husband) accepted his new job, we knew we needed to move.

The part of the story we could never anticipate was that our home would be bought by a recent widow who would love it even more than we did. A woman who had some sort of connection (no joke) with every other person living on the street. And a women who in a letter to us stated it was like we had designed the house for her, she didn’t want to change a thing.

Friends, it’s hard for me to describe to you the comfort it brings my heart knowing that us stepping out in faith lead to such comfort for another person.

Maybe you don’t believe in God and this story seems silly to you. That’s okay. You can choose to see simple chance at work here, I respect that choice. But personally I would rather cling to the hope that the events of this year where a part of a bigger picture.

Besides selling our home and moving, 2018 brought a great opportunity for me to learn.

I started this blog last January. I love to write and cook and was looking for an outlet to do just that. Also, Sam was coaching three sports and I wanted something productive to fill my free time. Before that point I had no idea what SEO, mailing list, or CSS meant.

To be honest there is still sooooo much for me to learn, but the process has been so much fun. I have loved learning, sharing, and making new blogging friends. I am so excited to see what this next year of blogging will bring. Which brings me to my next point.

My goals for the year ahead…

2018 was a great year and my goal is to be intentional with my goals from the get go in 2019. So here are my plans for the next year:

  • Treat myself to simple healthy indulgences like my creamy green tea latte.
  • Tame to mountain of dirty clothes by doing laundry more often (than the once every other week it happens now).
  • Workout more often with the goal of getting strong not skinny.
  • Read more books and watch less TV.
  • Laugh at more of my husbands jokes, and let him do the dishes when he offers.
  • Learn as much as I can to grow the blog throughout the year.
  • Not lose sight of enjoying the moment while the pursuit of getting things done.

What about you? Did 2018 treat you right? What are you looking forward to in the new year?
