How to make chocolate chip banana bread.

Banana bread is seriously easy to make. It’s not like traditional bread that needs yeast, time to proof, and heavy kneading. Really banana bread is more like a loaf cake, or cake baked in a loaf pan.

To make start by mashing the overly ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Next, you will want to add your wet ingredients: egg, apple sauce, and maple syrup. Mix these together until everything is well combined and the eggs are fully mixed in.

In a separate bowl prepare your dry ingredient mixture: flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add that dry mix into the wet and stir until the batter is smooth and evenly mixed. Finally, add some chocolate chips and you are ready to bake.

Pour the batter into a greased (you can use cooking spray or butter) loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean.

Sure you could just slice this bread and serve it with butter (and it would still be delicious), but there are plenty of other tasty options to consider. For example…

  • Slice it up, dip it in an eggy batter, and make the best french toast you’ve ever had.
  • Heat it up, top the bread with ice cream and eat it like a sundae
  • Dice it up for a banana bread pudding
  • Up your pb&j game by using two thin slices to make your sandwich
